President

 

A fashion industry educator with over 25 years of extensive practical experience, Sylvia Walsh has been mentor to many of Australia's leading young fashion designers. Her involvement in government and business initiatives has enabled her to maximize her contribution to the Australian Fashion Industry. Completing her Masters of Art in Textile Design in 2007, she studied in Paris and London as a member of Fashion Group International Inc. (USA) and the Paris American Academy Fashion Educational Division. Sylvia currently teaches at RMIT Brunswick and is active in encouraging student placement in Industry and involved in coordinating Industry events.

Vice President

 

Les Mapstone is a long standing member of the Institute and Past President. Previously working with Du Pont, his mentorship abilities and positive reputation in the textiles industry are well known and he plays a key role in the Student Awards Programs.

Treasurer

 

Mike Clifford is well known in the textiles and dyeing / colour sectors of the industry. He holds a key management position with Pacbrands (Holeproof), and provides strong leadership in his Treasury role to the Institute Committee of Management.

Secretary

 

Manjula Senanayake has a Grad Dip in Textile Manufacturing and holds a management position with Pacific Brands. He has been in the textile Dyeing and Finishing industry for over fifteen years. He was awarded LTI accreditation of qualification by the Institute in 2008.

Committee Member

 

Kate Porter started her career in the UK apparel manufacturing sector, but moved into recruitment for the textile, clothing and footwear industries over 15 years ago. Now based in Melbourne, she places specialist technical and executive level candidates throughout Australia as well as into roles with major international companies in Asia.
